I know from much personal experience as a human being, and especially as an HSP, how much 'overwhelm' can affect us. I also know how hard it feels to face it!
It feels kind of 'overwhelming' to face the overwhelm, right? I experience this all the time: a mountain of tasks that cloud my vision and ability to see even one thing I can do. They all feel too much, too big, too urgent, and
then I want to run away.
Practical Step
The practical way to deal with overwhelm is to break the mountain into tiny steps, and to take one first step. Only one.
But... Overwhelm is overwhelming!
What happens for me, and maybe for you, is that even the idea of facing the mountain and breaking it down into tiny steps, feels impossibly big. They're all staring at me with their
big, googly, expectant eyes! Too much pressure...
With that I turn away from any action, usually, and sometimes, binging on a series is my solution. "I can't face anything, let me rather escape into something mindless that doesn't require effort". Sadly, that leaves me more drained! Ugh.
If that's you too, you have all my empathy.
And that's why, so often I start with how I feel about a problem. As soon
as some of the feeling of overwhelm dissipates, it becomes more possible to take tiny steps.
What if it was possible to dissipate an overwhelming feeling in a few minutes, so that you can get on with your day and live your life, instead of being stuck in the 'too muchness of everything'? And what if it was easier + more gentle than you'd imagined?
Below is an easy tap-along video for you. If you're experiencing
overwhelm now or anytime in the future, play this and tap along. I will help you slow down that 'too-fast-too-much-too-everything' sense.
