This year's summer in London is completely different from last year. 2018 brought a very hot summer. Uncomfortably hot because the UK living spaces are designed to keep heat IN, not out!Ā

I marvel at the variety and cyclesĀ in nature. There are seasons with aĀ great abundance of leaves, flowers and warmth, and seasons with very little leaves, and almost no sunshine.Ā

In nature, we have accepted it as normalĀ and natural.Ā

In our own lives, abundanceĀ also comes and goes. Have you noticed? There are richer times, and leaner times.Ā

We accept that nature goes through cycles, yet we find it pretty hard to accept that our own resources might work in the same way.Ā

The thing is....Money scarcity can cause a LOT of stress for us. Our bills stay the same, whether our income is stable or goes through a downward cycle. It can make our hearts THUD in the middle of the night. That awful feeling that I'm not going to meet my family's needs... or I desperately want somethingĀ that I can't affordĀ (usually for me, it's a course or learning program that's only offered for a
limited time!).... or I want to help someone elseĀ and I can't do that...

I have buckets of empathy,Ā . I know that place too well. I haven't solved it completely in my own life.

Recently I've heard so many people around me share their stress, fear and anxiety around a lack of money and I would love to offer something that might be helpful. I'm not speaking from a pedestal - more from "We're in this together, let's work on it."Ā

I did that recently and learnt some valuable lessons. I donāt have it all figured out fully. Iām still learning how to best care for myself as an introvert (who is also an HSP and Empath). I trust thereās something here that you can benefit from.

Self-Care isn't just a holiday or a massage
āI canāt afford self-care. I have no time for myself and Iām on a budget.ā
I hear the misconception all around me. That self-care necessarily entails āexpensiveā or ālots of timeā - like a holiday in the Bahamas.
It CAN be those things, yes. And, thatās nowhere near what the daily implementation of self-care means. So what is it REALLY?
