If you're a sensitive soul with a nervous system that feels deeply and a heart that wants to help everyone, you might know be familiar with this: "There're so many (humans and animals) who are suffering.... I'm only one person...I'm feeling overwhelmed..."
In my own experience, we can feel completely swamped by what's going on in the world, whether you're an HSP or not. We live in a complex world and our nervous systems are not designed to deal with intolerable stress every day with no relief.
I sometimes have to turn away from it all for a few days to find my center again. For instance - a social media break, a news break, a phone break.
Yes, our nervous systems can handle it up to a point. We're all still alive. The thing is.... there's always a cost. When I 'carry' the problems and suffering of too many people for too long, the cost usually shows up in my health, which leads to not being able to be with the people I so deeply love (clients, family and friends.)
I've had to learn tools to get myself to a level place. A state of calm did not come naturally to me. It's a work in progress. I've learned it's not helpful to get so completely overwhelmed and stressed out, that I can't even help myself, never mind my precious others. EFT has been one of my most well-used methods.
Workshop: Grounding for Sensitive Souls, with EFT
Val Nelson is a dear friend who works with introverted women with big hearts. She often helps them towards career clarity, and also with other life issues.
She has an 8 - step framework for living your purpose. Managing our energy and getting to a grounded place, is top of the list. Without that, the rest simply won't work as well. Val loves EFT too - and she's invited me to teach an introduction workshop to those who'd like to learn about this effective tool.
The world around us seems to keep getting more complex and full of difficulties. It's up to us to empower ourselves to stay as calm and resilient as possible. Our immune systems don't work well when stress hormones are coursing through us. Each system of our body takes strain when we're overwhelmed, stressed out and at the end of our tether.
Val and I are getting together on February 24th for 75 minutes. She'll help us understand some concepts around groundedness and energy management, and I'll teach the basics of EFT. You'll be able to start managing your own stresses and overwhelm with more ease.
EFT is short for "Emotional Freedom Techniques" - it's a simple method to help you get calm in the moment, so you can gain clarity and take appropriate actions. What I especially appreciate about EFT is that we never push any of our thoughts and feelings away.... we welcome and acknowledge them all equally.
You will have an understanding of how to use EFT for your own daily stresses, energy management and more calmness and resilience. It's still the most useful tool in my box after 15 years of using it.
